About Dahab, Red Sea, Egypt

diveyogi-beachDahab is located at the southern tip of the Gulf of Aquaba on the east side of Sinai, Egypt. At the Northern end of the Red Sea it developed from a small bedouin settlement to one of the most popular scuba diving areas in the world, due to it’s beautiful coral reefs which support its varied and stunning marine life. It sounds busy but still maintains its quaintness and laid back atmosphere so it is perfect for a yoga holiday. Well known for warm weather all year round, we chose November where temperatures are at their best around 25-35C.

The Fusion of Yoga & Diving

Yoga: means a unification (yoke) of body, mind, spirit.

Diving: a submersion in the sea, underwater breathing.

The Fusion: a way to feel a state of no-mind, a letting go of the mind and self, an experience of an altered state of consciousness through body and mind awareness.

The yoga diving course combines techniques of hatha ygoa, asanas, pranayama & meditation with scuba and apnea (breath-hold) diving in a beautiful, natural environment. This approach bring us to incredible close encounters with nature & helps us feel stillness, relaxation & altered states of consciousness. For all, Yoga Diving removes stress and encourages a freedom from thought. Diving helps you to experience breath and movement underwater as a form of meditiation. Taught together, diving and yoga can open you up to different worlds, both inner & outer.

The Yoga Space

The hotel has a magnificent custom built yoga room making your yoga practice special and inspirational. It is built into the foot of the mountain at the back of the hotel giving it a cave-like ambience, which is perfect for yoga practice considering yogis have been meditating in caves since yoga started over 4000 years ago. There will be one yoga classes per day, at 8.00am & an optional extra one everyday at 5.30pm, with one free day per week.

Other Optional Activities

As well as diving you can snorkel, camel ride, horse ride, windsurf and kitesurf and a must do is walk into the desert with the Bedouins. They are the indigenous peoples of Sinai and are very much like yogi’s in their way of living, moving and being. Have an awesome experince eating and sleeping with them under the stars.

Led by an experts in their field, the week will give you an introduction to Yoga and diving with a Yogic approach to the latter. It is suitable for everybody – divers and non-divers, experienced Yoga practitioners and beginners in both fields.
