Charities

As part of our commitment to reducing our impact on the planet, we are now working with Sustrans to invest in reducing overall CO2 emissions generated by UK travel (and travellers from beyond the UK!).

About sustrans

SustransSustrans is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, working on practical projects to help people choose to travel in ways which benefit their health and the environment. Sustrans are the charity which works in hundreds of communities throughout the UK, encouraging sustainable travel. One of these projects is the National Cycle Network; 12,000 miles of signed cycling and walking routes covering the length and breadth of the UK. One third of this network is traffic free and three quarters of the UK population now live within two miles of a National Cycle Network route.

Most recent figures show that 232 million trips were made on the Network during a year – the potential CO2 savings of all of these journeys, if they had been made by car, was just over 450,000 tonnes, equivalent to taking 200,000 cars off the road.

By donating to Sustrans you can help them expand the Network and invest in a project right here on your doorstep; a project which encourages and enables more people to travel more sustainably in their local area and one which benefits millions of people everyday.

Donate to Sustrans and invest in reducing carbon emissions, and help develop the UK’s National Cycle Network.

Our commitment to Sustrans

Here at the AdventureYogi camp we are committed to being responsible for the world around us. Because we are keeping our holiday more local to the UK and our home turf we thought it a good idea to choose a charity that is home-based and one that reflected our values too. We have similar values to Sustrans because we want to help educate people about the world around them and how their carbon footprint is affecting the environment and we want to encourage people to get fit and healthy to beat the rise in heart disease and obesity that is threatening the millennium.

Our commitment to Sustrans forms different approaches. We are committed to donating 3% of our overall yearly net profit for 2010 and hope to increase this by 2011. We will be working alongside them to create cycle routes to our destinations in the UK, whether it’s to our workshop days or to Cornwall for SurfYogi. We will have a presence at promotional days that Sustrans put on, giving away AdventureYogi prizes from a free massage to a free holiday! Our workshops in 2010 will be fundraisers to raise awareness of Sustrans and donations will go towards the charity from the days event after our expenses have been met.

There is a lot going on with AdventureYogi and Sustrans so watch this space!
