Here at AdventureYogi, we believe that yoga with skiing or snowboarding is the perfect match. After running our yoga and ski holidays since 2007 (our first ever adventure!), we know that the key to a fantastic ski or board and yoga experience is; an equal emphasis on the yoga, the skiing/boarding along with plenty of relaxation too. With this unique combination you are guaranteed to feel invigorated on the slopes helping you ski all day without feeling a lag of energy in the afternoon (this has been tried and tested!) and free from strain or injury if you haven’t skied for a year.

About the teachers
Bess Shipside – January 14th – 21st 2018 – Bess teaches a Hatha flow based asana practice but comes more from “how does that feel” rather than precise alignment based practices. Connecting the heart to the body and mind through physical movement and the breath and infusing mantra and affirmations in each class be ready to be taken on a transformative journey.
Chetana Thornton 11th – 18th, 18-24th March 2018 – Chetana has been on her path from a young age and has been teaching for 20 years. Having lived and immersed herself in her practice, she teaches with wisdom and knowledge and playfulness. Drawing on many yoga styles, she fuses it all together from Hatha, vinyasa flow, and restorative yoga.
About the yoga
Prepare for your day of snowboarding or skiing with a dynamic yoga class to awaken the mind and bring heat to cold muscles. These sessions pay special attention to warming the body, stretching out the legs and building stamina for your turns and powder runs. The yoga class will be 1 hour, so we can get up to the slopes early too!
After your full day skiing or snowboarding, return to your mountain yoga retreat to unwind and relax tired bodies with a restorative evening yoga class. This gentler, slightly longer session will vary each evening and include pranayama and meditation to help mind and body really let go and allow you to enter a state of deep relaxation after a hard day on the mountain. Afterwards, pamper yourself with a massage, have a well-deserved sauna or simply enjoy a good glass of wine in front of the fire while we make you a hearty dinner.
SuitabilityThis holiday is suitable all levels of skiers, St Foy is a great resort to learn and also for those who love off-piste. For the intermediates, you visit Val D'Isere, Tignes, and Les Arcs during the week. All levels of yoga are welcome in our spacious yoga space. Non-skiers are welcome there are plenty of activities on offer.

The ski schedule for the week
St Foy is a fantastic quaint French ski resort and is ideal for all levels. It’s great for beginners because you can walk to your lessons from your ski in ski out accommodation at the bottom of the baby slopes, and then if you feel like you need a break, you can come and relax at the apartments. For intermediate/advanced it is a fun resort, and for those who favour off-piste, it is a hidden gem, a playground of trees and wide open bowls.
We spend two days at St Foy; the other four days will be spent in the ski areas of Val d’Isère & Tignes and Les Arcs so that you can experience three different ski resorts. Spending 2 days at each helps you to get to know the areas. You are welcome to stay at St Foy if you prefer and if you are a beginner you will stay here for your lessons. You can join the more advanced group towards the end of the week. Our hosts will brief you in the morning with a piste map of each ski area so that you can explore the slopes with confidence.
The great thing about St Foy is the reasonably priced lift passes, they are €30 per day and €200 for the week, which is much cheaper than surrounding resorts.
Things to do
Non-skiers will find plenty to enjoy too. There are well-marked trails for snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing or simply hiking which offer breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains. One of the best trails takes you to the picturesque tranquil farming hamlet of Le Monal where you can picnic gazing at the glaciers of Mont Pourri across the valley. You could also choose to try your hand at dog-sledging with your own sledge pulled by a team of huskies.
The less active can while away the day soaking up the sun with a chocolate chaud, a glass of vin chad or perhaps a beer on one of the mountain restaurant terraces or be pampered at one of the two spas at Sainte Foy.

As they are private homes, they have a very high quality of furnishings and equipment throughout with plenty of storage space.
