About the teacher
Chetana has been on her yoga journey from a young age and has been teaching for 20 years. Her time spent in India, the heart of yoga, has culminated in a very spiritual approach to yoga, although she remains down to earth. As a result her practice soulful, wise, philosophical and playful all at the same time. Her use of language and deep experience shows you she is an authentic yogi who truly knows what she is talking about so you can feel confident in her ability and knowledge.
About the yoga
Chetana draws on many yoga styles and fuses it all together! She has a gift for feeling the energies and needs in the group, and shares her learnings and practice based on this. She has the ability to manage all levels, ages, abilities to create a class everyone benefits from. Over your 10 day holiday you can expect 3 hours of yoga a day.
Chetana is a diverse teacher who incorporates a combination of flow, traditional hatha based practice, acroyoga, thai yoga massage and sound healing to create truly energising and uplifting classes.
Expect a more restorative class, with focus on breath work, deep stretching and healing that will release tension, unwind body and mind and encourage you to let go of the layers that you are inadvertently holding onto.
With Chetana’s teaching we are confident you will return home transformed: lighter, brighter and shinier and ready to take on life again.

The villa and grounds
Your retreat is comprised of a beautiful 150-year-old restored Dutch Colonial Villa and was formerly the colonial residence of Bentota’s Ayurvedic doctor before being transformed into a beautiful 6 bedroom boutique hotel. Set in 4 acres of lush garden, it teems with wildlife such as monkeys and brightly coloured birds and trees and plants which were planted originally for use by the Ayurvedic Doctor. The lush lawns with palm trees, cinnamon trees, and fig trees surround the pavilion in the center of the grounds which acts as the relaxation and dining space. The pavilion is situated right next to the pool with loungers and towels.
Doctors House: This is the original Dutch colonial bungalow that was built for the Ayurvedic Doctor as his home. It has been sensitively restored to its former charm and consists of an open column verandah, living room with ornate arches and dining area with central courtyard reflection pond.
The Master bedroom: Overlooks the gardens and pool with a kingsize four-poster bed, antique almirah, writing desk and chair.
Twin four poster bedroom: This room has two large twin four-poster beds with mosquito nets, a wardrobe, and air conditioning
Both bedrooms overlook the inner courtyard lotus pond. The bathroom is finished in polished cement and features an open-air garden bathroom shower.
The Mango Wing: The elevated suites of the Mango villa offer open views across the gardens and pool. There are two twin en-suite rooms and each room is tastefully furnished with twin four-poster beds, air-con, almirah, writing desk, and day bed.
The Coconut Wing: Named after the beautifully shaped coconut palm that rises from the verandah, this wing has 2 stylish double bedrooms with large canopied queen-sized beds, antique furnishings and opens to a spacious outdoor tropical garden bathroom.
Nick Villa: This accommodation is next door and is a self-contained Sri Lankan style villa with 4 acres and private swimming pool and staff. There are 4 double rooms with en-suite bathroom.
Suhada Villa: This accomodation boasts stylish ensuite rooms which are individually styled on a colonial theme with four poster beds and wide verandahs taking in views of the tropical gardens and pool.
