Yoga and Skiing in the French alps 2019

La Rosiere, French Alps, France
17 - 24th March 2019 (Sunday - Sunday, 7 nights)
24 - 31st March 2019 (Sunday - Sunday, 7 nights)

Here at AdventureYogi, we believe that yoga skiing or snowboarding is the perfect match. After running our yoga ski holiday since 2006 (our first ever adventure!) we know that the key to a fantastic ski or snowboard and yoga experience is; an equal emphasis on the yoga, the skiing/boarding along with plenty of relaxation too. Alongside nutritious and filling Vegetarian or vegan meals, this unique combination is guaranteed to help you feel invigorated on the slopes helping you ski all day without feeling a lag of energy in the afternoon (this has been tried and tested!) and free from strain or injury if you haven’t skied for a year. Our ski area is La Rosiere, French Alps, which is joined with La Thuile in Italy making up the Espace San Bernado. It’s a fun and extensive ski area great for all levels.

About the yoga

Morning Yoga – 1 Power Hour
Prepare for your day of snowboarding or skiing with a dynamic yoga class to awaken the mind and bring heat to cold muscles. These sessions pay special attention to warming the body, stretching out the legs and building stamina for your turns and powder runs. The yoga class will be 1 hour, so we can get up to the slopes early too!

Evening Yoga – 1.5 hours Relax and Revive
After your full day skiing or snowboarding, return to your mountain yoga retreat to unwind and relax tired bodies with a restorative evening yoga class. This gentler, slightly longer session will vary each evening and include pranayama and meditation to help mind and body really let go and allow you to enter a state of deep relaxation after a hard day on the mountain. Afterwards, pamper yourself with a massage, have a well-deserved sauna or simply enjoy a good glass of wine in front of the fire while we make you a hearty dinner.

Learn more about the benefits of yoga for skiing and here are 11 apres-yoga poses for your post skiing wind down. Get started at home to get those ski legs ready!

The ski schedule for the week

La Rosiere is a fantastic quaint French ski resort and is ideal for all levels. It is a part of the Espace San bernado, which sisters with the Italian ski resort of La Thuile. It’s great for beginners because there are lots of gentle runs on the la Rosiere side so you won’t get bored and you can meet up with the more intermediate skiers or boarders for lunches on the mountain. For intermediate/advanced it is a fun resort, and for those who favour off-piste, it is a hidden gem, a playground of trees and wide open bowls. You can also ski over to Italy – so enjoy a chocolate chaud in Fance in the morning and La Pizza e caffe in Italia in the afternoon!

The Espace San Bernado ski area is big enough to get to know it and know your favourite runs, and discover the off-piste. It is nice because you can all arrange to meet for lunches if you wish, so that everyone is included in the group. We will brief you in the morning with a piste map of each ski area so that you can explore the slopes with confidence.

The weekly ski pass for la Rosiere is €222 for the week, which is much cheaper than surrounding resorts.

Things to do

Non-skiers will find plenty to enjoy too. There are well-marked trails for snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing or simply hiking which offer breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains. You could also choose to try your hand at dog-sledging with your own sledge pulled by a team of huskies.

The less active can while away the day soaking up the sun with a chocolate chaud, a glass of vin chad or perhaps a beer on one of the mountain restaurant terraces or be pampered at, enjoy our hot tub and sauna and relax with an in-house massage.

We can arrange

  • Ski or snowboard hire – we ask for your sizes closer to the holiday
  • Ski or boarding lessons – same as above

  • We offer massage treatments and energy healing with our fantastic team of in-house AdventureYogi therapists.  Treatments are at an extra cost. £38 for half an hour, £65 for 1 hour, £90 1.5 hours.
