What is a digital detox we hear you ask? It is a wellbeing yoga retreat, but also with the opportunity to release yourself from technology and have a break from it. With the overload of technology that has become a part of our everyday lives, it is difficult to escape from it.

This is a relaxing weekend of wellness, relaxation, time out, space and the opportunity to unplug emotionally from technology. The retreat follows the same structure as our wellness retreats with one difference, you don’t have your phones, we take care of them for you. If you have a family you can call them if you need to, but it is to allow you the space that is necessary to really relax, instead of constantly checking the phone.  This is your weekend to give yourself the break you need from the technology that has become a part of our day to day that is now hard to escape from. With the combination of yoga, healthy food, total peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings and re-connecting to nature you will also find yourself again and give your own system the re-boot it needs.

Louise Gillespie-Smith

Louise is a warm and enlightening teacher who uses yoga to help you feel good! Louise has spent time in  India, where she studied and practiced yoga extensively- training to teach vinyasa flow in the foothills of the Himalayas. She is an advocate for using the spiritual, heart opening nature of yoga to help you live a more peaceful and contented life. Louise teaches a mixture of Hatha Flow, Yin and meditation on her retreats, but is also a qualified life coach and reiki healer.

About the yoga

Join us for twice daily yoga in our glorious, purpose built shala, in the centre of the retreat space. Look forward to gentle, energising and strengthening classes in the mornings, expect a mixture of Hatha, Vinyasa flow, meditation, with setting intention and personal inspiration from our teacher. In the evening, deeply relax and unwind with a restorative practice, soothing meditations and yoga nidra.

What to expect from a digital detox

This retreat is like all of our wellness and yoga weekends, they are the opportunity for you to relax and switch off.  The only difference is we ask for your phones so that you can really relinquish yourself from its control! If you have a kindle, it’s time to go back to paper books.  We have your next of kins number when you book so they can contact our retreat team if there is an issue at home they need to speak to you about. If you have family commitments, children or ill parents then of course you can speak to them! Hopefully, you have chosen this retreat because you want to switch off and your family has given you permission to do just that.

On Saturday afternoon, we offer an informal workshop that will cover one’s relationship with technology and how we can minimise its usage in our day to day lives.  Enjoy walking in nature, becoming mindful of your surroundings, the people you are spending the time with, the sounds, the colours. Indulge in a slower pace of life and then reap the benefits.

Giving yourself this space is a gift, so really take time to savor it.  These days people seem so attached to their phones to the point where it seems they are ruled by them. This retreat gives you the opportunity to become mindful of your relationship with your phone or computer, to become the observer of this relationship and to challenge it to see if there is another way to manage the time spent on technology, to enhance your health and wellbeing. This digital detox retreat then creates an even greater sense of space in your life, to really relax and shed layers of stress that being connected can create without you even being aware they are there. It’s also just about wellbeing, yoga, good food and time to chill out!

These luxury en-suite rooms combine a rustic charm with quirky modern twists. They are nestled in a courtyard formation around the Barn which is the yoga, dining and chill-out space. The main barn has underfloor heating throughout, wood burners and big cosy sofas in a living space to relax into.

Each bedroom has original artworks by renowned artist Oliver Barnett, giving each room a unique interpretation of a natural scene creating a perfect harmonious colour balance with the handmade curtains and cushions. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms have their own underfloor heating. They also have super comfortable, extra thick sprung mattresses and high-quality cotton linen.

Twin or double rooms: The rooms are spacious enough for two people to share a room comfortably, with cosy single beds and crisp linen and beautiful en-suite bathrooms that have either a bath or a shower room.

Triple rooms: These rooms have the same thoughtful eco-design as the twin or double rooms but with an extra area which is a day bed for the third person in this lovely triple. There is a spacious en-suite bathroom also.

Single rooms: We have limited single rooms available and they have a single supplement of £150.

By Car
We are situated in Norfolk to the east of Kings Lynn. The nearest town is Swaffham, to the South. If you are driving, we send out travel information in the welcome pack.

By train
The train station is Downham Market, 30 minutes from the venue. We offer a complimentary service to arrange taxi share if you catch the recommended train times.

Do you have any availability?

Most retreat will show the availability on their specific page. If you are unsure or need to book for a larger group, you can always contact us before placing your order.

Whats the booking process like?

To reserve your space we ask for a £150 (UK) or £250 (abroad) deposit immediately, paid online on the page of the retreat you want to join, or over the phone by credit or debit card. We will then send you out your final invoice, your booking form and ask your room preference. We then ask you to pay the full amount 6 (UK) or 8 (abroad) weeks before the retreat or holiday. You can pay online, by bank transfer or Paypal but we add the 3.6% charge incurred by Paypal. Please call 01273 782734 to pay over the phone by debit or credit card. Two weeks before the retreat we will send you your welcome pack via email, and help you iron out any concerns you may have.

How do I pay for my retreat or holiday?

Firstly, pay your deposit online on the page of the retreat or holiday that you would like to book. We will send you a confirmation and your final invoice to pay. You can pay online by card, by bank transfer or Paypal but we add the 3.6% charge incurred by Paypal.

I haven’t done much yoga before, can I come?

We have designed our weekends and weeks for people who love yoga, whether they are beginners or have been practising for years. All our teachers are very experienced and are more than capable of adapting the classes to all levels. Our ethos is about being open & friendly, and we set up our business to spread the incredible word of yoga to people who perhaps wouldn’t have gone on a yoga retreat before. So don’t be shy, there is no time like the present to start your journey with yoga.

Do I have to attend all the Yoga sessions?

Of course not, we understand we all want different things. Our two-hour sessions normally also include meditation or mindfulness, so it's worth giving it a go.
