Feel the need to get away for the New Year? Want to completely unwind, immerse yourself in your yoga practice and soak up some tranquility? Join us at our Hay on Wye New Year yoga retreat to kick back, relax, stretch out the Christmas excesses and enjoy the company of new friends. Our new year retreats are very popular and we have been running them since 2009 to bring you the best combination of celebration and peace to welcome in the new year.
The week is split into 2, so you can stay for 5 days from December 28th – January 1st for the New Year, for 4 days from the 1st – 4th January or for the whole week. On both halves of the week there is a setting intention workshop and a guided hike with experienced mountain guides so be prepared to get blown about in the Brecon Beacons National Park! It may be a refreshing long walk depending on the weather if weather is too inclement! Energise and invigorate on these days in the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Our retreats are wonderful in winter with the silent walks to the sunrise, yoga classes, delicious wholesome, warming and nourishing healthy food, treatments, open log fires to curl up with a good book and cosy living spaces to relax in. There’s a special evening schedule to bring the New Year in with your setting of intentions, meditation, a delicious vegetarian feast with mocktails and dancing.
These retreats are perfect for those who want to get away from the usual New Year celebrations, feel healthy, alive and set positive intentions for the year ahead. These retreats are alcohol free over new year – so that you can really start the new year feeling a healthy buzz naturally.

8.30am – 10.30am: Morning Yoga & Meditation Class
10.30am: Brunch served wholesome warming foods and teas
11.00am-5pm: Free time for walking, workshops, 1 to 1’s, treatments or just relax
2.30pm: Hearty and warming lunch
5.30pm – 7.30pm: Evening yoga & meditation
7.30pm: Delicious vegetarian dinner

Our Hay on Wye retreat is a family owned stately home deep in the Welsh countryside. Originally owned by the Major of Neath Vale, it is now owned by a family member. It has in recent years been refurbished to a luxurious standard. It is one of our most luxurious venues, so enjoy curling up by the open fire with a book or snooze the day away in your super cosy bedrooms.
How to get there
The nearest train station is Abergavenny and then it is a 40 minute taxi ride which costs £40. We recommend the below trains so that you all arrive at the same time in order to group you into taxi’s to keep the cost down.

We will give you directions in the welcome letter once you book. The retreat 40 minutes from Abergavenny, 40 minutes from Hereford and 20 minutes from Builth Wells.
To do our bit for the environment we encourage car share with guests. Once you have booked onto the retreat we ask those of you who are driving to offer a seat for someone who may have otherwise travelled by train. This alleviates our carbon footprint and makes it more fun for everyone.

Nutritious and delicious vegetarian food is an integral part of our New Year yoga retreats with an emphasis on warming and nourishing menus.
Our food is gently detoxing, is all vegetarian, made without sugar or dairy products and low in wheat and gluten.
There are herbal teas and caffeinated teas/coffee for you to choose, and there’s bread and cow’s milk in the morning if you prefer it, but also soya and almond milk to enjoy.
There are pre yoga snacks to support blood sugar levels. The chef always makes a special porridge for breakfast and there is granola, fruit, yogurt and eggs to enjoy. In the afternoon a wholesome healthy lunch is served and then, after evening yoga, there’s a wonderful 2 course dinner for you. New Year we indulge you in a 4 course supper with mocktails and canapes for that extra special evening.
We bring our own AdventureYogi chefs with us who all have their own individual flair and genius to produce high quality vegetarian dishes. We offer fresh, local, seasonal and nutritious meals.

When you have some down time relax in the house, wander around the grounds or take a drive and visit Hay on Wye and peruse it’s book stores.

The classes are suitable for all abilities, from beginners to intermediate and advanced levels. Everyone is welcome. We have a range of inspiring and experienced teachers who are well practiced at adapting the class for everyone’s level.
Whether it be Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Yin or others, all classes cover pranayama, asanas and meditation to help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and to promote a peaceful mind. Morning sessions are a more dynamic practice and the evening sessions are gentle with lots of stretches, meditation and relaxation.
